Central Bank Survey on Foreign Exchange and Derivatives Market Activity

Overview
The Statistics Function will host a half day training seminar on the Central Bank Survey on Foreign Exchange and Derivatives Market Activity (FR 3036) reports. The survey is conducted every three years. It is the only comprehensive source of information on the global volumes and structures of the foreign exchange and derivatives markets.

The FR 3036 consists of a Turnover part and a Derivatives Outstanding part. The Turnover part gathers information from market-making dealers on the monthly volume of transactions (turnover) in the foreign exchange cash market, the foreign exchange derivatives market and the interest rate derivatives market. The Derivatives Outstanding part requests data on outstanding contracts in the derivatives markets for foreign exchange, interest rates, equities and commodities.
