Circular
New Treasury Check
August 18, 1997
Circular No. 10972

To All Depository Institutions in the Second Federal Reserve District:

We have been informed by the Financial Management Service (FMS) of the Treasury Department that the check stock used for printing Treasury checks will be changed beginning later this month.

The new check stock will have two security features: (1) dual flourescent coloration instead of the single flourescence used in the current check stock, and (2) the FMS seal on the check will bleed/smudge red if it comes in contact with moisture. Please advise your appropriate operations staff of these changes.

If you have any questions on this matter, please contact George Ferraro or Kelly Horne of this Bank's Government Check area.
