Circular
Resumption of Check Presentments in the Buffalo Territory
January 8, 2002
Circular No. 11417

To All Depository Institutions and Others Concerned in the Second Federal Reserve District:

On December 27 and 28, 2001, this Bank notified you in our Circulars 11414 and 11415 that, because of conditions in the Buffalo, NY, area resulting from heavy snow, there were delays in the presentment of cash items, the return of unpaid items, and the forwarding of advices of nonpayment. These items were drawn on institutions with routing numbers in the 0220, 0223, 2220, and 2223 ranges. This Bank also notified you that beginning on December 28, 2001, the Bank was deferring credit for items we identified as drawn on or returned to depository institutions having routing numbers with the 0220 and 2220 prefixes.

The conditions in the Buffalo, NY, area have improved such that this Bank is now able to present and return cash items to the affected institutions. Effective December 31, 2001, this Bank is no longer deferring credit for items drawn on or being returned to depository institutions having routing numbers with 0220 and 2220 prefixes.
