Buffalo Board Chair Named and Three Directors Reappointed

BUFFALO – The New York Fed announced that its board of directors has designated Katherine E. Keough chair of the Buffalo Branch board for 2004 and the Board of Governors has re-appointed Dr. Keough for a three-year term beginning January 2004.

The board of directors of the New York Fed also announced the reappointment of Maureen Torrey Marshall and Peter Humphrey as Buffalo Branch directors for three-year terms beginning January 2004.

Dr. Keough is President of St. John Fisher College in Rochester. She is currently a board member of the Rochester Business Alliance and Holy Sepulchre Cemetery of Rochester, New York. She is also a member of the Commissioner’s Advisory Council on Higher Education for the State Education Department, the University of the State of New York. In January 2001, Dr. Keough received the Athena Award from the Women’s Council of the Greater Rochester Metro Chamber of Commerce. She earned a B.A. degree from Pace University, New York, New York; an M.S. from Hofstra University, Hempstead, New York; and an Ed.D. in Education Administration from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, Virginia.

Ms. Torrey Marshall is Vice President of Torrey Farms Inc., a 10,000-acre fresh market vegetable, vegetable processing, dairy and grain family farm located in Genesee, Orleans, Niagara and Yates Counties. She is also owner and manager of a trucking company. Among other activities, she is active in the National Council of Agricultural Employers, the United Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association Foundation, the New York State Vegetable Growers Board of Directors, the New York State Farm Bureau and the Produce Marketing Association. Ms. Torrey Marshall earned a B.S. degree from Iowa State University.

Mr. Humphrey is currently President and CEO of Financial Institutions, Inc., a multi-bank holding company headquartered in Warsaw, New York. He is also Chairman of National Bank of Geneva, Wyoming County Bank, Bath National Bank and First Tier Bank & Trust. Mr. Humphrey is a past chairman of the New York State Bankers Association and past president of Independent Bankers Association of New York State. He is a trustee of the New York Bankers Retirement System and serves as Chairman of the Genesee Region Commission of New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation. Mr. Humphrey received his bachelor’s degree from Trinity College and is a graduate of The Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University.

Four of the seven Buffalo branch directors are appointed by the board of the New York Fed; three are named by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. The Buffalo board chair is selected annually by the New York Fed head office directors from the pool of Board of Governors’ appointees.
