The Business Conditions Function produces rigorous analysis of current economic and fiscal conditions in the nation and the region that supports monetary policy and other Bank operations. It also conducts topical and long-term research on important economic and fiscal issues that serves to enhance the understanding of the national and regional economies.

 
Recent research topics include:
  • home equity extraction and consumer spending,
  • the usefulness of the personal saving measure,
  • regional infrastructure and development,
  • development of regional activity indexes,
  • tax changes and consumer spending,
  • the yield curve and recessions,
  • goods and services price inflation, and
  • the economic effects of 9/11.
