We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the work of the research economists in the New York Feds Research and Market Analysis Group. |
The New York Fed offers an exciting and unique research environment by virtue of our regulatory responsibilities and our designation as the site of domestic and international monetary policy operations. We engage in independent research on topics that relate to the Banks many policy missions. Our economists contribute to the formulation and execution of monetary policy, banking supervision policy, and other policies affecting payments systems and financial markets. |
The Research Group encourages long-term research geared toward publication in academic journals and in the Bank’s own research series. Our Economic Policy Review and Current Issues in Economics and Finance provide researchers with effective vehicles for reaching a wide audience. In addition, our Staff Reports series highlights basic research that has the potential to appear in leading professional journals. |
We maintain an active seminar series to provide our economists with opportunities for peer review of their work as well as exposure to the work of other staff economists and prominent researchers from the academic community. Our visiting scholar programs also enable staff researchers to interact with a number of distinguished academics. Visiting scholars attend workshops and meet individually with our professional staff on a weekly basis. |
We offer state-of-the-art computing capabilities, excellent research support, ready access to data, and discretionary travel budgets for researchers to attend and participate in professional conferences. |
In addition, the New York Fed offers a generous benefits package, including medical and dental coverage, a pension plan, an employer matching savings plan, and relocation assistance. |
We hope you will review this document and familiarize yourself with our research environment. |
| Joseph S. Tracy Senior Vice President and Acting Director of Research |
