Ron Cathcart
Ron Cathcart is senior vice president and head of the Enterprise Risk Supervision function in the Supervision Group at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Mr. Cathcart is responsible for the oversight of risks faced by financial institutions in the Second District, including the systemically important firms designated by the Financial Stability Oversight Council, large foreign financial institutions and large regional banking organizations.Mr. Cathcart leads a team of risk professionals responsible for the full range of enterprise risks including credit, market, liquidity, compliance, operational and model risk. The work of this group is carried out within the regulatory framework established by the Board of Governors and forms the basis for an overall assessment of the firms supervised.
He was the Chief Enterprise Risk Officer of Washington Mutual until 2008, where he oversaw all aspects of risk in the organization in addition to internal audit and insurance. Prior to joining WaMu, Mr. Cathcart was the Executive Vice President Retail Risk Management for CIBC. Previously, he served as the EVP Retail Risk Management at JP Morgan Chase and the head of Personal and Commercial Banking Risk at RBC. In 2009, he formed the bank advisory firm, Columbia Capital Consulting which provided risk management consulting services to financial institutions.
Mr. Cathchart holds an A.B. degree from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from the Richard Ivey School of Business.
