As a member of the senior leadership team, he also advises the Bank’s president on matters related to monetary policy, banking, and financial markets.

“Kartik is a highly regarded economist in the fields of macroeconomics and household finance, as well as an inspiring leader,” said John C. We were impressed with his proven track record of bringing a collaborative and inclusive approach to leadership, both within his department and across the Bank.”

“After over two decades at the Richmond Fed, I am looking forward to using my experience and knowledge to help drive the innovative research and important policy analysis conducted by the New York Fed’s Research & Statistics Group,” said Athreya. “By continuing to engage in groundbreaking research and analysis, we can further support the Federal Reserve System in understanding the economy, addressing economic challenges, and guiding the formulation of monetary policy.”
