Conference Announcement and Agenda
The Transatlantic Economy Ten Years After the Crisis: Macro-Financial Scenarios and Policy Responses
April 23, 2018
A conference jointly sponsored by the European Commission, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Centre for Economic Policy Research.

Overview
The one-day conference will be articulated in three panel sessions with two keynote speeches by Kevin Hassett, Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, and Valdis Dombrovskis, Vice-President of the European Commission. Session 1 will discuss recent economic developments and their policy implications in the European Union and the United States. Against the backdrop of relatively strong growth in both the United States and the European Union, it will look at similarities and differences in the policy mix on the two sides of the Atlantic and the possible spillovers they may trigger. Session 2 will analyze the reasons for persistent low inflation both in the United States and the Euro area, with a particular focus on wage growth. Session 3 will discuss regulatory issues in global banking, with emphasis on financial stability implications. In particular, it will identify areas of “unfinished business” since the crisis, and focus on whether the current rules deliver as intended amid the background of rapid technological change.
