The Transatlantic Economy: Convergence or Divergence

A conference jointly sponsored by the European Commission, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Centre for Economic Policy Research.

Overview
The conference will bring together US and Europe-based policy makers, regulators, market analysts and academics. Conference participants will evaluate the prospects for sustainable economic growth and financial stability, and discuss challenges to transatlantic economic relations posed by the recent episodes of the economic crisis. The talks will be structured around three interactive panel sessions as follows:

Session 1: Fiscal convergence, monetary divergence?
Session 2: The appropriate policy response to secular stagnation risks
Session 3: Towards an integrated Transatlantic financial market?

Audience
Attendance is by invitation only.

This event is open to the media. Chatham House Rule will be in effect for all but the keynote address; media may report on comments made during the event, but may not attribute remarks to individuals or organization.
