The Federal Reserve Bank of New York will host NYC DOE Social Studies Department’s professional development for its teachers. Educators will unpack the components of the NYSED United States History and Government Regents Exam, explore its connections to Passport to Social Studies curriculum resources, and learn ways to item analyze Regents data and use data analysis to inform instruction. Attendees will also receive a tour of the New York Fed’s Museum and Learning Center, see some amazing resources and program opportunities for our students, and have time to plan for their classrooms. College Fed Challenge teams that registered and submitted a video by the deadline were invited to attend a "Discussion on the Open Market Trading Desk and Monetary Policy Implementation" with the System Open Market Account (SOMA) Manager Pro Tem Patricia Zobel. This virtual event gave students the opportunity to hear firsthand what it's like to participate in FOMC meetings, how the Desk's work informs FOMC deliberations, and how the FOMC's directions in turn guide monetary policy implementation.
