Thomas J. Murphy is the president and chief executive officer of Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Company (GFNB). He is also the president and CEO of Arrow Financial Corporation, the Glens Falls, New York-based parent company of GFNB and Saratoga National Bank and Trust Company. Together, the two banks have 40 branch offices in eight counties from Albany to Plattsburgh, New York.
Mr. Murphy began his career with GFNB in 2004 as manager of the personal trust department and held several leadership positions prior to serving in his current role. Previous to that, he was a certified public accountant for 24 years, most recently as a founding partner of Curtis, Murphy & Jeffreys (now CMJ, LLP), a regional public accounting firm located in Glens Falls, New York.
Mr. Murphy currently serves as a founding member of the board of directors of the Adirondack Civic Center Coalition and is serving his second term on the board of directors of the Charles R. Wood Theater, having served in officer roles of both organizations. He also serves on the Siena College Board of Advisors and is a current member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Glens Falls. In the past, he has served on several other local community boards.
Mr. Murphy has a bachelor's degree in accounting, magna cum laude, from Siena College, and was a licensed New York State CPA until recently letting his license expire. He is a native of South Buffalo, New York, and now lives in Queensbury, New York.
