Credit Insecurity and ALICE Households in the United States

May 07, 2026

On Thursday, May 7, 2026, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York will host a webinar to discuss its new report, “Credit Insecurity and ALICE Households in the United States.” The report examines access to credit for families below the Federal Poverty Level, as well as households that are Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE), with income above the federal poverty level but below the cost of basics in the counties where they live. Together, those categories comprise 55 million U.S. households, 42% of the total. United for ALICE, a project of the United Way of Northern New Jersey, provided ALICE data for the report.

This one-hour webinar will highlight the key findings of the report, discuss the importance of understanding credit access for financially strapped households, and describe how to use data from the report.
