Updated on May 8, 2019 to note that the meeting and tour at the Advanced Science Research Center at the City College of New York will be open press.

NEW YORK—Federal Reserve Bank of New York President John C. Williams will make stops throughout Manhattan on Friday, May 17, to meet with leaders in business, community development, education, and government.

The day will begin with a breakfast organized by the Partnership for New York City, which represents the city’s business leadership and works with government, labor, and the nonprofit sector to promote economic growth locally. President Williams will then tour Hudson Yards, which is Manhattan’s newest neighborhood and the largest private real estate development nationwide.

From there, President Williams will head to Washington Heights for a meeting with Community League of the Heights (CLOTH). He will learn about CLOTH’s holistic approach to community development, including its after-school programming, adult education courses, health clinic, and affordable housing projects.

President Williams will then tour the Advanced Science Research Center at the City College of New York. The Center elevates scientific research and education across the City University of New York system and beyond through initiatives in five distinctive but interconnected disciplines: environmental sciences, nanoscience, neuroscience, photonics, and structural biology.

In Chinatown, President Williams continues his day with a meeting organized by the Asian Americans for Equality, a nonprofit organization committed to preserving affordable housing throughout New York and to providing new opportunities for the city’s immigrant communities. The meeting will include representatives from Asian American Federation, Chinese American Planning Council, Chinatown Manpower Project, and the Coalition for Asian American Children and Families to learn about Chinatown’s changing landscape and its impact on long-term residents.

President Williams will conclude his day in Lower Manhattan where he will meet with Patrick Foye, Metropolitan Transportation Authority Chairman and Andy Byford, New York City Mass Transit Authority President to discuss the impact of mass transit on the region.

This trip serves to inform President Williams on regional issues and is part of the New York Fed’s ongoing efforts to assess economic conditions in the Federal Reserve's Second District.
