New York Fed President John Williams to Meet with Government, Business, and Nonprofit Leaders from Syracuse and Central New York on March 23-25

On March 23-25, Federal Reserve Bank of New York President John C. Williams will hold a series of engagements with leaders in business, government, education, community development, and health care from the Syracuse and Central New York region.

On Tuesday, March 23, President Williams will speak with Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh and Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon II about the economic recovery in Syracuse and Onondaga County and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on municipal finances. Later the same day he will participate in a virtual roundtable discussion with local business leaders to hear about how the Central New York economy is faring amid the pandemic.

On Wednesday, March 24, President Williams will take part in a roundtable discussion with members of nonprofit and philanthropic organizations to hear about the unique challenges rural communities are facing. Later in the day, he will participate in a virtual moderated discussion hosted by Syracuse University and Onondaga Community College–SUNY, with a focus on the Central New York economy.

On Thursday, March 25, the virtual regional visit will conclude with a discussion with community leaders from Syracuse focused on housing, health, immigration, and racial equity issues.

These meetings serve to inform President Williams on regional issues and are part of the New York Fed's ongoing efforts to assess economic conditions across the Federal Reserve's Second District.
