March 16, 2023

NEW YORK — On Friday, March 31, Federal Reserve Bank of New York President John C. Williams will travel to Fairfield County, Connecticut, to meet with leaders in government, business, education, and community development.

The first engagement on this daylong regional visit will be in Stamford, where President Williams will meet with elected officials from across Fairfield County to learn about their economic plans and other initiatives. He will then head to Norwalk to meet with business leaders for a discussion about operations and business conditions in the post-pandemic economy.

Later, President Williams will visit Bridgeport, where he will meet with workforce development practitioners to discuss the challenges facing those who are counted among the long-term unemployed. He will then hear from local stakeholders, including representatives of the Connecticut Green Bank, about climate resiliency, adaptation, and decarbonization initiatives in the area.

The day will conclude with an event at Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport, where President Williams will deliver remarks and participate in a moderated discussion covering the economic outlook and monetary policy.

These meetings serve to inform President Williams on regional issues and are part of the New York Fed’s ongoing efforts to assess economic conditions across the Federal Reserve’s Second District.
