NEW YORK — On Friday, September 29, Federal Reserve Bank of New York President John C. Williams will travel to Long Island to meet with leaders in government, business, education, and community development.

The first engagement on this daylong regional visit will be in Suffolk County, where President Williams will meet with leaders in the agricultural industry to hear about the opportunities and challenges facing Long Island’s farmers. He will then meet with elected officials from Nassau and Suffolk Counties to learn about economic plans and other initiatives in the region.

Later, President Williams will head to Nassau County, where he will hear from Long Island business leaders about operations and business conditions in the post-pandemic economy. He also will deliver remarks and participate in a moderated discussion covering the economic outlook and monetary policy.

Next, President Williams will visit Hofstra University, where he will tour the new Science and Innovation Center and hear from university leadership about new initiatives and longer-term plans. The day will conclude with a community development roundtable discussion focused on issues facing low- and moderate-income populations on Long Island.

These meetings serve to inform President Williams on regional issues and are part of the New York Fed’s ongoing efforts to assess economic conditions across the Federal Reserve’s Second District.
