NEW YORK—Federal Reserve Bank of New York President John C. Williams will visit Albany, New York, and the greater Capital Region on June 23 and June 24 to meet with leaders in government, business, and community and economic development.
The regional visit will begin on Monday, June 23, in Schenectady, where President Williams will participate in a Fed Listens event with business and community leaders at SUNY Schenectady Community College. He will then travel to Albany, where he will meet with current and former members of the New York Fed’s board of directors and advisory groups to hear about economic conditions in the Capital Region.
On Tuesday, June 24, President Williams will meet with government officials and leaders from Empire State Development to hear about economic development plans and key initiatives underway in New York State. He will also participate in a walking tour of downtown Albany to learn about recent investments and revitalization efforts in the area.
President Williams will then visit the NY CREATES Albany NanoTech Complex, where he will learn about the research, development, and commercialization of nanotechnology and semiconductor innovation in Albany. There, at a public event sponsored by NY CREATES and the Center for Economic Growth, he will deliver remarks and take part in moderated Q&A with business leaders and other Capital Region stakeholders.
Following that, he will visit Velan Studios, in Troy, to learn about the videogame industry and business environment in upstate New York.
To conclude the regional visit, President Williams will travel to the headquarters of Capital Roots, a Troy-based nonprofit organization focused on community gardening. There, he will take part in a roundtable discussion focused on issues affecting low- and moderate-income communities in the Capital Region, such as food insecurity, mental health, and affordable housing.
These meetings serve to inform President Williams on regional issues and are part of the New York Fed’s ongoing efforts to assess economic conditions across the Federal Reserve’s Second District, which includes New York State, northern New Jersey, southwestern Connecticut, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
