NEW YORK—Federal Reserve Bank of New York President John C. Williams will visit Buffalo and Jamestown, New York, on September 28-29 to meet with leaders in government, business, education, and community and economic development.
This two-day regional visit to Western New York will begin in Jamestown, where President Williams will meet with local officials to hear about economic conditions in Chautauqua County. He will then join community development leaders for a roundtable discussion on the opportunities and challenges facing area residents.
Next, President Williams will visit Cummins Inc.’s Jamestown Engine Plant to tour the facility and learn about its operations. He will then meet with members of the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce to discuss business conditions and the local economy.
President Williams will then visit the National Comedy Center to learn about its operations and the role of tourism in the regional economy. Next, he will head to Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park to hear about the anticipated economic impact of the new home of the Buffalo Bills. For the last engagement on the first day of the regional visit, he will travel to Buffalo, where he will meet with current and former members of the New York Fed’s board of directors and advisory groups to hear about economic conditions in Western New York.
On Tuesday, September 29, President Williams will meet with officials at Buffalo City Hall to learn about economic activity in the region. He will then travel to the Erie County Medical Center campus for a roundtable discussion with community development leaders on health and economic mobility.
Next, President Williams will visit the University at Buffalo (UB), where he will meet with leadership to hear about the university’s role in the local economy and new initiatives on campus. He will also take part in a roundtable organized by UB’s Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and Center for Supply Chain Analytics to learn about the economic environment for local businesses.
The regional visit will conclude at the UB Student Union, where President Williams will deliver remarks on the economic outlook and monetary policy and take questions from an audience of students and business leaders.
These meetings serve to inform President Williams on regional issues and are part of the New York Fed’s ongoing efforts to assess economic conditions across the Federal Reserve’s Second District, which includes New York State, northern New Jersey, southwestern Connecticut, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
