New Members Appointed to Community Advisory Group

NEW YORK—The Federal Reserve Bank of New York today announced the appointment of five new members to its Community Advisory Group (CAG), effective immediately.  The CAG, which is composed of leaders of nonprofit, community organizations, foundations and anchor institutions, provides the New York Fed with a real-time view of the issues faced by a diverse set of communities across the Second District. The appointments were announced in advance of the CAG’s next meeting on March 24, 2020, which will be held telephonically.

The CAG’s primary goal is to provide the New York Fed, including President John C. Williams, with a more thorough understanding of the economy’s impact on communities and individuals.  CAG members are selected on their experience and expertiseandtheir ability to represent specific communities—such as youth, seniors, veterans, immigrants and rural populations. They are also chosen on their ability to present key community and economic development trends.

The new members are listed below:

  • Jennifer Sun, Co-Executive Director, Asian Americans for Equality (AAFE). 
    AAFE is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of Asian Americans and all those in need.  It is committed to preserving affordable housing throughout New York and the economic empowerment of the city’s diverse immigrant communities.
  • José Luis Cruz, Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost, CUNY.
    The City University of New York is the United States’ largest urban university system, serving over 250,000 students, and is the nation’s top engine of social mobility.
  • Roy Swan, Director, Mission Investments, Ford Foundation.
    The Ford Foundation is an independent, nonprofit grant-making organization. For more than 80 years it has worked with courageous people on the frontlines of social change worldwide. Ford, an impact investment pioneer, created the program related investment and its $1bn mission related investment commitment is the largest in the nation.
  • Lata N. Reddy, Senior Vice President, Diversity, Inclusion & Impact, Prudential Financial, Inc. 
    Prudential, a financial services leader, helps customers grow and protect their wealth through life insurance, annuities, retirement-related services, mutual funds and investment management.
  • Deanna James, President, St. Croix Foundation. 
    The St. Croix Foundation advances holistic community development as a pathway to economic prosperity, self-sufficiency, and sustainability. It is one of the premier place-based philanthropic leaders in the Virgin Islands.
