Juan Morelli is a research economist in International Studies. His research interests are in the intersection between macroeconomics, international economics, and finance. Combining quantitative models with micro-level data, he studies the role of financial intermediaries on the transmission of shocks to households and firms in both domestic and foreign economies. He joined the New York Fed in 2025. Prior to joining the New York Fed, Morelli was a Senior Economist at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. Morelli holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the NYU Stern School of Business.
