New York Fed to Host Press Briefing on the Economic Recovery in the Second District

NEW YORK—The Federal Reserve Bank of New York will host its next economic press briefing on Friday, December 17, at 11:00 a.m. EST.

The briefing will focus on the economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic across the Federal Reserve’s Second District. New York Fed regional economists will give a brief overview of economic conditions in the region, which includes the New York City metropolitan area, upstate New York, northern New Jersey, southwestern Connecticut, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The briefing will also take a close look at labor market conditions and assess remaining job shortfalls in the region.

In conjunction with the event, the New York Fed will publish a Liberty Street Economics blog post which will provide a detailed look at conditions and trends in the regional economy.

There will be an opportunity to ask economists questions on the regional economy. The event, which will take place via webinar, will be open to media and on the record. Click here to register and visit the event page for more information and additional resources.

Also on December 17, the New York Fed will unveil a new Regional Employment Trends interactive web feature, which tracks payroll employment for states and metro areas in the Second District, utilizing the New York Fed’s Early Benchmarked Employment Data. An accompanying Liberty Street Economics blog post will provide users with an overview of the interactive’s features and functionality.
