New York Fed to Release Research Series on Regional Businesses’ Cost and Price Dynamics

February 26, 2026

NEW YORK—On Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 10:00 AM, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York will release a three-part research series on its Liberty Street Economics blog analyzing cost and price dynamics among businesses in the New York-Northern New Jersey region.

This will mark the latest blog series based on special topics covered in the New York Fed’s monthly regional business surveys,  the Empire State Manufacturing Survey and the Business Leaders Survey. The New York Fed’s monthly regional business surveys aim to gain deeper insights into the state of the Second District’s manufacturing and service firms. Periodically, these surveys include unique topical questions on timely issues affecting their businesses.

This series includes:

What’s Driving Rising Business Costs?” which analyzes the sources of cost pressures facing regional businesses, including health and business insurance, utilities, and goods and materials inputs.

Are Rising Employee Health Insurance Costs Dampening Wage Growth?” which examines the sharp growth in employee health insurance costs and explores how these rising costs impact wage growth.

Firms’ Inflation Expectations Return to 2024 Levels,” which analyzes regional firms’ pricing behavior in light of cost pressures, as well as firms’ inflation expectations.
